Have you tried to ask them ?
I know when I offer domain registrations I purchase them in my name then transfer them over at the request of the client to their names. Some of my clients dont want to have the domain name in their name to keep more annomity-------------

It doesn't clearly say on their site, I would recommend talking to them prior to purchasing a plan from them.

Your best bet is to contact the hosting provider as some hosting provider will list their information as the domain owner.

Normally the site owner owns the domain name. But hosts can make it difficult to move the domain registerd by them, to make sure that the customer doesnt cancel hosting account. It is recommended that you buy a domain name from an acredited registrar to avoid any issues in future. I never take the free domain offered by hosts.

Same opinion from my end also. It is better to avoid registration of domains through hosting provider. It will reduce the headaches when you need to switch your hosting.

Other companies (marblehost, etc) state the ownership rights position in the TOS and als o at the site where they state this will fully belong to the user, even after the migration.
About hqhost - try asking them!

I liked seeing that at least one respondent to this thread does the honest thing and transfers ownership to their clients upon request. You are one of few and far between hosts to do that. In fact, you are the only one that I've seen state this. Most dangle the idea of the free domain name as a carrot to keep you paying hosting fees to them for as long as you want to use the domain. That to me is not truly a free domain name.

Thanks guys, I must have built a wrong question. I knew what to do, I just asked if someone had an experience with the hosts offering free domains. I have seen this option at glowhost.com and other sites, but I wanted to know if someone alredy tried this opton from any host.
