Web Hosting NIGHTMARES!

My first hosting providers (back in '93 up to '98) were hosts like Angelfire, Tripod, and Geocities (hahaha) - of course that was when I was a teen and the internet was VERY much an infant (back when we were initially learning HTML from WebMonkey.com). In 2001 or so I decided, as per advice from a friend, to purchase my first paid hosting, who happened to be 1 and 1 Internet (I'm sure some of you will have mixed reviews of them). I stuck with 1 and 1 for some time (a little over 4 years), moderately satisfied with their services, and really liked their custom control panel. Uptime was good, but the services were only moderately satisfying because their customer service was terrible, and their speed seemed to get slower and slower by the year.

In 2005 I decided to try other hosting. I tried Sleekhost and Readyhosting - both of which managed to have more downtime than imaginable, one of the two managed to stay down for over a month, wouldn't reply to my emails, answer my calls, and eventually notified me that they lost all my files off their server and "accidentally" deleted my database. But they waited over a month before they told me what had happened (and most of it wasn't just MY stuff, but I had clients who I had hosted on that space as well).

In the latter portion of 2005, I decided to move to Lunarpages - a refreshing change! They gave me a good amount of space and bandwidth at an unbeatable price. The problem was, they suckered me in. The "good price" was only good for the first year, to new customers - it was a "special offer", which I didn't realize when I signed up (they didn't make it evidently clear). After my year was up, they wanted to charge me over double what the previous year cost (first year was about $65, after it was up they started asking me for $145 to renew).

Now this looks like web hosting nightmares. I had an opportunity to see the thread in full words.
Then I hesitated to post a reply since that has an advertisement smell. Now I can comment that this is just explaining your hosting history, and a good review. Thanks for taking time to write. And thanks moderator for the editing you have done to make the title meaningful, other wise it was a night mare turning around to a good dream.

I suppose my experience with 1 and 1 wasn't exactly a NIGHTMARE, but the fact that I would generally wait on hold for over an hour only to talk to someone who didn't speak English and only read scripts off their computer that generally didn't even pertain to the question or problem I had, was a bit nightmare-ish.

SleekHost and ReadyHosting were both complete and utter nightmares (not sure either of them still exist).

Lunarpages was an overall good experience until it was time to renew my year and discovered I was being billed twice as much as what I signed up for (apparently, they are ALWAYS running promotions for new customers, probably to suck them in with the low price so that they could slam them later on). So that turned out to be an unexpected nightmare.

The other company I reviewed gives honest prices (not promotional pricing), and has stable services and good support. That part of the review was however removed by a moderator, and I'm sure they felt there was a good reason for it.

Deficit, that part of the review is removed because it violates the rules of this forum.
Also, They are just running an affiliate program and not a real hosting company.

Yes, what Matt said is correct. That part of the "review" has been removed.
The OP has contacted me about this and I can verify that the review you see now is legitimate.
