BlueHost is Great for the Money
Don;t even bother with Bluehost if you get more than 3000 visitors a day, because shared web hosting can rarely handle this amount, but for small and medium sized businesses, it's great. LunarPages offers great VPS packages if you outgrow Bluehost

Bluehost is great. I recommend you sharkspace.com include as one of the stable web host for reseller web hosting.

If you are looking to create something like webhostdir - start with DMOZ. As for me that is one of the biggest web hosts collection.

Here are some popular/reliable companies I know:
Hostgator.com, Bluehost.com, GoDaddy.com, DreamHost.com, ServerPoint.com, Rackspace.com Some of them, like bluehost or godaddy are just popular, but I cannot say how reliable is their services. The rest are quite stable. and affordable. |

I can add to the list some more companies: ahosting.biz, dreamhost.com and webhostgiant.com.
They are reliable and have the reputation of stable and rock-solid companies. |

I would highly recommend godaddy.com. I've been using it for a long while and never really faced any problem. Even when they do encounter a fault, they are quick and responsive about it.

There are thousands of web hosting companies out there, but only a few dozen are true hosting companies like Marblehost.com, A2hosting.com and Lunarpages.com. I would rather pay that few extra dollars for their reliability and competence than to find my sites down for long periods at a stretch.
