Looking to understand basics of LAN
I wonder about setting up best network I can for local computers, which so far is not much of an issue, but could quickly become vital to my workflow. I do feel very novice at such set up / configurations.
I then wonder about networking solutions for collaborators (on site), and ways to communicate / share files (in near real time) with team members / contractors who are say not in driving distance to my office? I'm familiar with and/or currently use services like MobileMe, Google apps, Tonido, etc. to handle the collaboration effort (with off site personnel).
But since I don't have my own on-site server, and currently am just networking two computers, I feel I could use some basic coaching on LAN type setup. Admittedly, I'm asking very broad inquiry here, so if anyone wishes to ask me specifics, please do. Otherwise, examples of what works for your team(s) would be listened to and appreciated.
Thanks,
Jman

Baically, you need to create a workgroup in the main system and add the other systems to that work group to share files in LAN. Its pretty easy to set it up, please see Windows XP: Set up your computer for home networking to know about setting it up in an XP system.
Who am I?
