Deceiving advertising and cheapskates
This is soooo funny that most people expect the world for under $8.00 a month. They will take a busy web site that is mission critical and put it on a plan that is less than $10 a month and is shared?
Why do people do this? If you have not figured out how to make money with your busy web site that belongs on a dedicated server not shared web hosting then you should get out of what ever you are doing. You should be making enough money for a dedicated if you are pulling in the traffic that drives up a shared servers load to the point of no return.
They always gripe and complain that their web site was suspended for using too many resources. Lesson number one if you are going to use 15 Gb of space and 400 GB of bandwidth a month you do not belong on a shared server.
What really irritates me is the large web hosting companies putting these plans up that most of you will not even come close to just to get you in the door. Then when you do try to use it your gone. . Smaller web hosts have to raise their plans and lower their prices just to keep up with this racket.
Do you really think that you can go to Bluehost and use up every bit of your space and bandwidth and still have an account? Try it and let me know the result because you will be bringing the server that is packed with 1000ís of web sites to a crawl.
To me I think we should bring our plans back down to be reasonable and not go along with this racket any longer. These plans where designed by someone other than us and I think that we should stay away from the lies and deceiving advertising.
Web hosting has gone to the dawgs nowdays.

i think youre right on a lot of points. the problem is, web hosts are offering packages they cant deliver on in order to lure customers in. we all know how competitive web hosting is.
i dont think you can blame the customers for wanting to use the storage and bandwidth they supposedly paid for, right? web hosts stay competitive knowing that not all their customers will max out their quotas, so that they can resell the capacity and offer lower prices.
this whole phenonemon has caused customers, such as myself, to be accustomed to generous quotas at technically impossible prices. and when resources run low, oversold servers get downed. but if youre offering 30gb storage and 500gb transfer, dont you have an obligation to allow ALL your customers to use their quota, even if theyre only paying $7.95 a month?
i think you and i can both agree that the problem lies in the industry itself, rather than simply with the over-assuming customers or hosts with questionable ethics.

Well very insightfull, You know customers are always looking for a lot of space and bandwidth and that is why they always choose the bigger plan which is normally cheaper than the plan consisting of less space and bandwidth , so for that reason it will be very hard to make the customers choose what is ideal and reasonable for all even if they know that these plans are just a way to lure them etc.
So I don't think that there are can be much to do to open the eyes of those customers.█ For Reliable and Affordable Web Hosting Packages, Please visit kooshin.com

Unfortunately you are right colorteck. It is just marketing and I know first hand, as I used to work for several hosting companies, that the system administrators will usually just boot you off the system if you overload it and give you zero warning. It is better to signup for a dedicated plan than to risk hurting your business when the companies pull your shared hosting plug.

You got that right! I think if people would stop being so cheap that the industry may get back the way it use to be. This would probably be better for the customer. Nowdays people look for the cheapest and then complain about it.
Oh well before you know it web host will be paying the customer to host their website with them.
