did it just get tough?
Is it me or did the hosting business just get tough, with registrars providing bottom prices for hosting all the little organisations even some larger ones are finding its becoming tough to survive, if we all lower our prices to keep up with demand, then we will all eventually go bankcrupt.
Any thoughts on this?

Don't think anyone should lower their price to keep up with the demand. I guess if you offer reliable service, clients will still choose you regardless of your price. Just my 2 cents.

I agree it's tough, but I do not think it has just now gotten this way. I do think that the rise in popularity of GoDaddy and 1and1 a year or so ago has put a squeeze on smaller providers. However, I don't think that this is a very large problem, especially if smaller hosts continue to be innnovative and niche-focused. Do not lower your prices just because everyone else is doing it. As you have realized yourself, there is no way to even survive at prices that low, so don't even go there if you have not already.

If anything blame technology and market saturation. This business is doomed to be just like any other and have large conglomerates eat each other, merge, grow, and stomp out the competition from vendors competing for their business. Strange how that all works.
