from which country is the best host
Today internet is so popular and borderless, people do business worldwide and hosting company comes from many countries. As we know US company are expanding and open up data centre Indian, China, Malaysia and Singapore to capture the new growing market. Frankly speaking cost in these countries is much lower and hosting company is making good income if they offer the same rate as US counterpart. They still make good money if the offer the same price as US counterpart.
which country is your preferred choice and why?

Hmm.. that depends actually. If I were to be a customer and I can find a good/ reliable host locally, I might as well choose my own local host. It will be easier to contact them. Just my 2 cents.

Depends on what you are looking for in a host or a country to host from. Depends on the customers you target etc.

Hi,The best thing is to host in a country where visitors are coming from. However if you have a international site I'd recommend to have it on a US server. Also one should keep in mind that Search Engines give value to geographical location for local searches, as a example if your site is in a UK server and if you move it to a US server you could experience a drop in UK SE (search Engine) visitors.

I have to say though, there are some advantages to hosting with a provider who's based in the same country you are. For a start, you don't have to worry about timezones.
We (Castlecore) used to have a server in the USA, but when something went wrong we usually ended up making a transatlantic phone call at some ungodly hour to get the server sorted out. Now our entire server cluster is spread across two UK providers.
To be honest though, you really need to look for reliability. Our USA host once knocked our server offline for nearly a week (apparently their UPS blew up) - that was the main reason we dumped them. We actually got an email from their CEO asking why we were leaving.. my business associate (who lurks here under the user ID "spikeh") did make it quite clear that for the amount we were paying, having their "redundant power supplies and backup generator" fail roughly once a week was utterly unacceptable.
In our experience, Fasthosts and PIPEX have been pretty reliable.

I would prefer data centers in US only...

Servers physically placed in US datacenters are still best in the world, irrespective of where you live.
However, sometimes people like to have their web hosting company to be close by, so that they can catch the collar whenever the server is down!
Else, one can go ahead with the hosting company located anywhere in the world, considering their experience, existence and expertise.

I've mostly dealt with hosts in the US but I believe the UK and Canada also have good hosts. Outside of that I think it is up for debate.
