I can't stand when people offer 10gb diskspace and 300gb bandwith for $5.99
which is kind of funny cause my friend ordered a package like that and uploaded
his whole desktop and he used up all the space and such not.

Overselling has become a necessity in the industry today. And there is nothing wrong with it. The problems set in when the host does not properly manage promised resources. Responsible Web hosts use proactive measures to ensure that clients still experience high-class service.
Honestly, if Web hosts did not oversell, do you know how much that 10GB disk space and 300GB transfer would cost? It would cost approximately $25-30 per month - and maybe more, if the host is smaller and cannot work out volume discounts on bandwidth.

I agree! I do not oversell though, it's a personal preference.

Kevin is right, the recommended way would be to identify your niche areas of hosting and target it with specialized service.
