The record that specifies the mail servers that handle email for your domain. By default, all of the email for your domain is handled by your hosts mail server.
It simply tells the system where to your mail is handled, if you wanted your mail to be handled by another server say everyone.net you would then change the MX record to everyone.net or and ip address.
Hope this help

A mx(mail exchange) record will redirect the mail send to any user machine to a designated mailhost. It tells the MDA(Mail Delivery Agent) where to route email.A Mail Delivery Agent (MDA) is the "postal worker" software that looks at the address and either drops it into the local user's mailbox or tosses it back on the "truck" for delivery elsewhere.
The MX record is found attached only to the domain .The mail which are directed to the domain name are redirected to the mail exchange defined in the MX record.
to get the MX record of the domain visit Whoisxy.com here you can get the DNS lookup of the domain ,ptr records etc....
