Thread: New Server
03-27-2003, 10:33 AM #1xeonGuest
I just bought a new DUAL XEON 2.4ghz server and I was wondering what operating system I should go with. I'm trying to configure it so I can do co-location. What other type of software do I need? I have done reselling in the past, but I don't really know what I need.

Well I mean, should I go for redhat, mandrake, freebsd, suse, or even solaris 8 for the x86? I have seen so many options, which is the best.

See, I would recommend redhat myself due to the fact that it is the most used, plus easy to use.

yea i would go with redhat
although i do have one warning with it
i would go with a older version, like 7.3
i tried 8.0 and there is a loads of things you need to download once u get it
like gcc, etc etc, its shipped with loads of missing files.
