About the companies:

MonteCarloHosting(http://www.montecarlohosting.net) and CDX
Solutions(http://www.cdxsolutions.com), two companies which offer a full
line of hosting solutions, are owned by Christian A. Herrnbock.
MonteCarloHosting has been in business since November of 2004, and CDX
Solutions has been in business since 2002, but was acquired by Christian
in July of 2005. Both companies are growing quickly, with over 400
accounts at the present time.

About the owner:

Christian Herrnbock, who holds both a W3C xHTML/CSS Certificate, and
is a Zend Certified PHP Developer, has been involved in the world of
internet information technologies since the age of 14, when he started
coding away on the then popular phpBB forums software. As his programing
skills, and experience progressed, he became un-satisfied with the
then-available hosting solutions, so he decided to take on a new
challenge - offer hosting services which are tailored to the needs of
internet applications.

1*. What inspired you to enter the world of Web
hosting?
*
As someone who's been doing web-development using PHP / MYSQL,
I've had quite a bit of experience with web hosts, and frankly, none of
them seemed to know how to run a server properly, or secure it
correctly. This, combined with some bad experiences in support made me
decide to start MonteCarloHosting.Net

*2. Do you believe the Web hosting business is friendly
or more of a cut-throat one?*

I believe this would depend - among those of us who are
professional, it is a friendly industry, one company helps another out,
and they get along well. However, when we have to deal with all of the
"companies" run by children, it turns into a very cut-throat endeavor.

*3. Where would you like to see your Web hosting
business ten years down the line?
*
I'd like to see both MonteCarloHosting, and CDX Solutions as
medium-sized operations, providing a full line of Internet presence
tools, but still keeping the tradition of one-on-one, personalized service.

*4. There are thousands of Web hosting companies Online
today, what makes your company different? What sets
it out apart from the others.?
*
I'd have to say it's our whole approach to the business. Whereas
most companies tend to focus on just providing web-hosting, and support
of the web-hosting, we help our clients from start (acquiring a domain
name, and a hosting account), through the process of creating their
web-presence (design, and functionality of the site, including online
stores, dynamic systems, forums, etc.), right to the end where the
client sits back and enjoys his or her work. After all, the main purpose
of a web-presence is to drive potential clients / members to your site.

*5. Which do you believe is more reliable, in-house or
out sourced support?

*In-House most definitely! When you, as the company, is providing
the support, your clients will learn to trust you, and you will learn
their needs. I find it's a much better experience for both sides;
especially compared to the cold, and overly-formal support which you can
expect from out-sourcing companies.

*6. In which area of Web hosting do you believe you
serve your customers the best?

*According to our clientel, the best thing they like about our
services is the one-on-one support; they really appreciate it when we
sit down with them, and help them develop a site which does what they
need it do to, even if it takes hours to accomplish this.

*7 . If there was one improvement to your services you
could do which is outside of your financial range
right now, what would it be and why?

*I would have to say it's providing Windows-based VPS
technology; right now, the licensing costs are beyond what we can
afford, but it is something which we are really looking into for the future.

*
8. Describe the support services that you provide?
*
We provide complete support, from buying a domain name, to basic
web-hosting questions, to actually creating your website, and then
support to keep the site operational. We also provide software
management services, in which we keep our clients' forums, CMS installs,
Galleries, and any other pre-made script up to date automatically.
*
9.Where do you see the hosting industry 4-5 years from now?*

I see it becoming even more competitive, with the number of people
entering the sector increasing. Basically, the web-hosting industry is
being marketed as a "get rich quick" scheme which is totally overloading
the market.

*10. Why did you enter the hosting business?*

*11. What is the best moment of owning a hosting company?*

When a client tells us that we're doing an excellent job, and
that they don't know what they'd do without us, that just makes our day!

*12. What do you enjoy most about hosting?*

I'd say the service and means for people to get ahead on the
internet - having first-hand experience with poorly configured and slow
services - I know how much of a setback it can be.
*
13. What do you offer your clients which other people do not*?

There are a couple things; firstly, we offer a full range of
web-hosting tools, from domain names, to SSL certificates, to hosting.
Next, our hosting platform includes everything from Windows Server 2003,
to RedHat Linux; utilizing all of the major scripting languages (ASP,
PHP, PERL, JSP) and many minor languages (Python, COBOL, C, etc.);
combined with four database systems (Access, MS-SQL, MySQL, and
PostgresSQL) it gives our clients the freedom to develop their site,
without having to adapt it to their provider. Finally, as I said
earlier, we provide Software Management Services, where we'll keep
clients' stock web application always up to date; this enhances both the
client's experience, and also it makes our servers safer, as security
flaws are always dealt with quickly.

*14. Do you have a partner or any "head" staff member?*

MonteCarloHosting and CDX Solutions are run by two people; myself
and a partner.

*15. What operating system do you use, and prefer?

*We use both Windows Server 2003, and CentOS4; I prefer CentOS 4

*16. What control panel do you use and prefer?

* We utilize Plesk 7 and cPanel control panels, they are about equal,
but I'd have to go with cPanel.

*17. Where do you see your company in five years time?
*
I'd like to see both MonteCarloHosting, and CDX Solutions as
medium-sized operations, providing a full line of internet presence
tools, but still keeping the tradition of one-on-one, personalized service.

*18. Where is the future of web hosting going?

*With the current trend of turning just about every application into
a client/server setup, I believe the demand for high-performance
webhosting will continue to grow, however, I believe the number of
companies will grow un-proportionally fast compared to the rest of the
market.
