I am currently doing some research on the best ways to promote a web host, be it small or large. I am think the following things are good, but want to investigate all possibilities:
List in Host Directories
Team up with Design Firms
Post in Webmaster Forums- being active in the community
What am I forgeting? or does anyone have any unique experiences to add to the above points?
Any help is greatly appreciated...

Being an active member in a forum helps too.
But teaming with design firms can be difficult.
1. They either already have a hosting partner, they just decide not to have one.
2. They go on a project to project basis. You never know when their next member will be hosted.
If you have a network of these designers it will be a pretty good referral system but many designers really never reply to you e-mail unless they are starting out as well.
