Just starting out - a few questions...
I'm just starting out on the reselling venture and I am pretty sure I am going to go with a particular company that uses cPanel. As I understand it, cPanel doesn't automate some of the things that say, HSphere does, so I wanted to ask a few questions.
#1 - Payments: What do you most of you use? In order to automate the payment process I envisioned PayPal where they select a plan and set up a recurring payment. Obviously this does not automate everything, and I would then have to go and set up each account individually - which really might not be that big of a deal. What do you guys use for this upfront process? The company I am working with pointed out Modern Bill, which seems cool - but I am wondering if I really need it. Maybe someone could shed light on how it plugs into cPanel?
#2 - Automated Domain Name Registration: Is there anything out there that can help cPanel do this?
Obviously my goal is to automate things to some extent - but there is a tradeoff for paying to do so as well. Other than payments, it seems to me that even if the other processes are not automated, they may only take 5-10 mins per new customer and might be worth doing myself (at least to start). Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I guess I should point out that my targets are going to be those people I develop sites for and those that I know that already have sites..

I guess what I need to figure out is, above and beyond paypal, what I really need. Most of my clients are going to fit into 2 categories: 1) those I develop sites for and can manage under one control panel 2) those that already have sites that I sell on moving to my hosting services. A VERY distant third in the initial going would be those coming to me out of the blue and needing to register a domain name etc.
With this as the case, what are your opinions on if I would even need a 3rd party app above and beyond automating monthly payments (which I assume I can do with PayPal)?

Like David said, your best bet is to probably go with ModernBill since you can get it free through that link in David's post and also you can integrate domain reg with it. Great monthly billing system and sounds like what you are looking for.

Modernbill will integrate with paypal if you wish. You can also take advantage of its integration with credit card processors if you wish to do internal credit card processing.
You can view an online demo of this software by using this link.

So basically ModernBill extends cPanel, takes care of order processing, domain name registration and payments.
What about on the backend, do you use it as a go between to cPanel as well? Like as far as setting up accounts etc? It almost looks to me as if you don't touch cPanel at all really if you have ModernBill hooked into it...

Basically, I have found myself using cpanel much less after using a client management system like modernbill. It handles the cpanel/whm setup, billing, domains, and more. Its really a great system!

Where does ModernBill stop and cPanel start? What I mean is, what does ModernBill NOT do that you have to do in cPanel. It sounds like you can do lots of account set up etc in ModernBill..... what about like transfering domains etc? Is that all cPanel?
