Thread: Suse Linux DNS server
03-08-2003, 07:02 PM #1ssOUTlawzGuest
At home I have DSL with a static IP address and I have hooked it up to a SuSe Linux box. I am running apache and php and everything works great I can access my server from anywhere in the world by entering my IP address into a browser. I just bought a domain name, and now I would like the domain to refer to my server. I did some research and this requires a DNS server to be run on my Linux box, and in most cases it is something called bind. Can someone help me further continue this process so I can get my domain name to point to my webserver.

you would need two ip's to run your own nameservers... and then install nameserver software such as bind, or djbdns, or powerdns...
