I recently registered a .Biz and a .com with registerfly on 01/24/2003. I've checked some whois lookups such as enom, registrar, network solutions, and internic. I found that the registrar was enom not registerfly which I guess means that registerfly is a reseller for enom? I also noticed that all the contact information on my .BIZ shows up on the lookups but my contact information doesn't always show up on my .COM. It only shows enom as the registrar but no info about me. Is this correct? INTERNIC is one of the lookups that doesn't show anything. How do each of these whois lookups get their information?

It depends on the domain extension. In the case of a .com, all of them (whois searches) go to Network Solutions, asks NetSol (which is now Network Solutions name for itself) who is the register for the particular domain (NetSol is the one place Internic, who is the international authority over .com's, has ALL .com domains listed at), then it goes to that domain register for the info. BASICALLY, it uses NetSol as a "I want to know what phone-book this register is in, so I can go look it up there" . :ermm: Not all whois searches will display the same information when they all see the same thing for the same domain. You mentioned Internic's WhoIs...It NEVER shows details of owner.
And yes, RegisterFly is a reseller. For .com's/.net's/and .org's , if the registar is NOT included on the list here then they are a reseller for someone who is (wOOt)
To check-out registars for other than .com/.org./and .net go to ICANN's website.
