Well, basically here is our situation.
I had a friend who admined my site for me during off-peak hours,
but he is joining the army. He said he was getting a little to fat and wanted to help out the country during time in need.
Anyway, while he is away, I will be the server admin.
I know basic linux and basically I know a lot of places for resources. (including WHC of course)
So I think I will do ok.
The problem is, he left without telling me where he gets all the files and such and any information on the server.. I just missed the bus and couldn't ask him.
So here's my question. Where do I go to get all the files neccessary for my server.
Like updated patches, and such.
Also, I have an empty server and basically it will be what I will be working on until I finally get into being the admin of the server.

Are you using Cpanel or any control panel ? For Cpanel, i think updates are automatic. Hope you have the password to root, or good luck to you!

I do have root access. Basically I have two other technicians but I don't want to pay them and give them to much work. Reliability goes down if they admin more then 2 servers.
Plus I wanna learn :P Also, I am using Cpanel.

BTW you can change the root password if you don't know it. The trick is you have to be at the physical console to do this ;-)
