Thread: Outsourced Support
11-29-2004, 10:49 AM #1JerettGuest
I have been doing some active reading through out this forum and there is a pretty good community feeling about this place, unlike others that I know where host are out to get each other. So kudos to you all for making a comfortable place to actually discuss the important aspects about and sorrounding the industry of hosting.
I am sure many of you have already noticed my signature and probably even clicked on the web link to see what I am all about. Let me just say that as a new host, the sort of work I do, you might find to be a valuable source for your business.
What do I mean?
Let me start by saying that I have personally been in this industry for over 8 years and so I know the ends and outs of hosting, especially just starting out. Often people will tell you that to start you will need:
Reseller Account, Billing Software, Site, HelpDesk, Yadda Yadda Yadda.
We have all read these sort of post over and over again. But what many don't tell you is that customers like 24/7 sales and support. It's just something that seems to work. From doing some research, I have found that companies do better if they can provide this level of service because you never know who is working on their site late at night and needs some help.
One thing you should also look into is how are you going to provide the sales and support. Are you going to be around 24/7 or do you have additional staff to help you? If not then it would be wise to look into outsourcing your support.
Some might frown on this and almost everyone who uses it refuses to admit it, but many do. If I was a customer of your new hosting site, I would actually like to know that your finding ways to properly handle my questions and if that means outsourcing it, then I would be pleased. Its the effort that your customers want to see.
With that said, our company is about keeping our clients Hidden because many just prefer to have it that way.
So after a long write up just to get to this simple point, don't feel like you have to be the superman of your site and run it all. You will quickly find through stories from others that those who attempt this ego approach....normally dont last through the first year yet alone the first 6 months. It becomes too stressful and with the lack of sleep, you just can't function. Look into outsourced solutions. There are many great companies out there and yes, MANY US BASED AND EMPLOYEED companies out there.
All you have to do is a little research - uh ummmm - - and you will find some quailty services out there that want to help you. Many if not all have done hosting before so they understand the industry and the need.
Ok - now I think I am ready to have some one come and butcher this up. I hope not - but there will always be the critic.

I could do with less ads. Try and make it look like your not just in this to make a buck
Your willing to put 10 ads on one page. Thats a lot. Decrease the amount of advertisers on one page and increase the monthly fee.
