What do you mean by a marketing plan?
Are you talking about something you'd bring to a bank in order to get a loan?
If not, I'll present a few general marketing directions I've developed for Corptex.
First, I bought a number of domains for niche-marketing, for instance, ClanSites , which hosts on-line gaming clans. ClanSites offers free hosting, so I was able to learn the hosting business in a non-critical environment.
These smaller 'divisions' are now under the umbrella of the parent company, Corptex. I haven't begun work on all the divisions as yet because I haven't had time to develop them; I'm still in that process.
Recently, I've launched a China division of Corptex, C9T.net, which is now successfully bringing in revenue. I have a partner in China with this division, and two people can get things done alot faster, I might add. We're now looking to get official authorization from the Chinese Government and my partner there is having a meeting tonight with a government representative - so this is an exciting moment.
So, I'll be building these divisions, capturing niche markets, and bringing as much marketing attention to Corptex as possible. This is alot of work and will take time, but I enjoy all of the niche markets because they're each something I'm interested in. As you might guess, I'm putting in 15-hour workdays 7/365, and I still don't have enought time.
I'm also positioning Corptex with a different angle than most hosting companies, because the competition is so fierce. While I was developing some of the Corptex divisions which were non-mission-critical, I spent an entire year studying, researching, talking, arranging, and then deciding which DC to locate in.
So my marketing strategy has been "bottom->up" and now I'm looking to implement a "top->down" strategy, offering colo and dedicated servers. It's a tough show to run, but I've managed to form some good alliances to help out.
