Five things you must consider for website maintenance tasks
Update content regularly: Your users might consider your website dead if you wouldn’t make any changes in your content. Every time any visitors return to your website, he should find useful content rather than old content of past time.
Keep making small changes in overall Design: Visual change in your website look would be noticed quickly so keep making small changes in your web design which seems refreshing to your visitors. You can also make changes as per current festival or national event going on.
Add new features periodically: Analyze the most famous social networking website Facebook and see at which level it has introduced new features which are the most important reason why it leaves all other website behind. On regular interval of time, you should add new features which makes user interested to know about.
Keep checking for errors: On monthly base or certain time, you should evaluate your website for different possible errors because of design or development. You should also look for server errors and should keep eye on factor like bounce rate of top entry pages of website and see what reason for higher rate is.
Keep considerable amount of money for maintenance: it is good practice to keep separate amount for budget. Because of high load on your website you may require enhancing bandwidth of website and at time, you should have budget to take action instantly.

Good points mate!
Even though you think this is common sense, many web authors fail to do these checks regularly resulting in traffic drops or stunt of growth. Its nice to print this out somewhere you can always see it, just to make sure you're keeping up with regular maintenance of your site! Cheers
