How to minimally run business
We all know that the goal of starting a business is to not have to work for it evenually. We all know that to make something successful, plenty of work is involved. What I want to know is how to insure a steady stream of hits or new account sign ups, if we only had time to make up monthly specials. We are always watching the ticket board, and forums, but as for the marketing side of the business, where is a line drawn where business can be relaxing.
The reason I ask this is because we just started a business, and are marketing to a niche group of nerds, geeks, sadists, etc. We realize that it will take a lot of time to set up a marketing plan that works for this niche group. But all employees are doing this on the side currently, and we are all in college. We don't have a lot of time for this business, but are very interested in making it something more than it currently is. I'm wondering what a good way to get the word out (other than business cards, flyers on campus, etc) for hosting would be, or where we should look for advice. I've been reading quite a bit of marketing books (these are incredibly inane, as I have been part of activist groups, and am an Engineer).
I think that's it. Any and all advice will be greatly received.
