Reliability of Alexa Rating?

How do they rank the websites?. Do they check like google like, inound link and outbound link.

What is the imprtance to having high alexa?

No they check which sites get the most visitors. As i said it is spyware. It says that you visited x sites and says how many times. For each time it gives +1 to the site. And then it ranks them in order

I belive if you sign your company up with findmyhosting.com that will give you a personalized Alexa chart for uptime. At least last time I was there it did.

I don't find it reliable. It's very skewed, with webmaster focused websites being higher ranked as their visitors are more likely to use that Alexa toolbar. A high ranking can easily be manufactured as well using bots... There are "services" specialising in that.

Yes its true there are ways to "cheat" it. If you get the trial version of alexa and just visit your business site it will go up drastically.
But then again there is no non-bias method of giveing a site a score...at least I dont know of it.
