ya know i had linux on my laptop here for a while but now since it caused me more headaches than it was worth i belive i will not go back to using it for a while. It is a pain in my rear to install stuff (yes i know how to do it) but it always says something is not right and yea it doesnt support media stuff very well and ya.....im still Pro Windows till someone can prove to me that Linux can out do a windows system (which i dont ever forsee happening cause linux isnt as compatible)

doesnt give you headaches if you know how to manage it
. It is not for the people who dont know how. It does however far outperform Windows

Running RH and Win2K on one machine. While my other home machine runs solely on XP. Still have my knoppix cd to play around with.
Cant see myself switching from Windoze to Linux for the time being coz I'm so used to having programs like Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

I know how to use Linux...im not a illerterate PC person.....ima coputer nerd somedays. (just i dont own 9 pc's
) but yea Windows is way better than Linux cause as with many others its far more friendly and does a ton more than Linux....plus Linux (at its current capacity) could never handle my games and my music DL services (they r pay services)

the reason linux will never be "better" than windows in the eyes of the consumer is beacause of is grip on the market. Everything is maid for WINDOWS and not for linux and hence people will go to windows as they like the software made for it.

I think Linux will start to take back some of the market, rather than the 4% (not sure if its 4 or 3) share that it's got at the moment. I think that people will start to see that Linux can be used on a desktop and that they will be willing to learn a little and save some money at the same time. Getting Linux is easier than ever now, a trip down to your local PC world will get you a copy of SuSE for £10 including a large book telling you about Linux, its applications and how to use it, or they can download and burn it...which took for every when dialup when it was what everyone had (some advice: never, under and circumstances should you try to download Linux on dialup up, unless you have a few months). Personally the only thing that's stopping me from using Linux is the fact that the drivers for my modem are no existent for Linux.
