Basic recommendations
- Be wary of e-mail attachments.
- Install a firewall on your computer.
- Pay attention to passwords.
- Update security patches for your operating
system and web browser. - Back up your data.
- Log offline when you are done for the day

Agreed, though people who willingly open email attachments form unknown senders are frankly their own worst enemy.

Hi David,
I'm not a security expert but ... yes, I can.
Firstly I recommend you to activate your
Windows firewall.
Then you can choose a firewall.
Here is a short list with some of firewalls
which I trust in:

I personally use Hack Tracer (is a good one)+Sygate+Ad-Aware+
Windows Firewall together.
Unfortunately I think that HackTracer is out of sell.
Finally ... The "best" firewall is the one that suits you and your preferences.
