How to Become a Successful Web Hosting Owner ?
It is very helpful article to improve your hosting business. I help it will help our members. This article is written for WebHostSchool.com.
Once you enter the field of web hosting, your first
question is, “How can I make myself better?” or “ How
can I make myself stand out from all the rest?”. With
dozens of web hosting companies popping up on a daily
basis that is not an easy task at all. Many companies
spend weeks, months and years trying to figure out the
steps of success and in which order to try to achieve
them. You must approach the problem in a two step
process. How can you as the owner of the web hosting
company make yourself successful and how can you then
make your business succeed beyond your expectations.
What can you do to improve yourself?
The most important thing you must do is to listen and
interact with your customers and clients. Nobody
likes a guy who sits back and claims all of the glory.
You must get down into the work and make sure your
customers know that you are listening to their
concerns. One way of achieving this would be to
become a regular poster on your web hosting forums.
This way your customers will know you are more of a
friendly and helpful type rather than a cold money
Once your customers have a good sense that you are
around, let them know you are working as well. Many
people go into web hosting thinking that the boss is
just the guy who sits back and tells all the workers
what to do. You do not want to be this type of web
host. Instead let your customers know that you are
“in the trenches” with your server administrators and
support crew working on fixing whatever problems might
While working with your customers and clients, you
should try to get to know them a little better. When
somebody comes to you for support, once the problem is
out of the way, ask them how their day has been or
tell them you hope to talk to them again. Customers
like to feel like they are really speaking to somebody
who could be their buddy or friend. They do not want
to think of you as just somebody to pay another bill
to at the end of the month. After a while, you may
get to know your clients a little better. In exchange
you will know what their likes and dislikes about your
service are and how to better your web hosting
Lastly, let your customers know that you give your
own personal seal of approval on everything you
present as a company. Let them know that you stand
behind your claims of support, uptime or service.
Once they know they can trust your word of mouth, then
make sure you backup your claims as well. Do not take
the trust you have earned for granted and make sure
you are giving out the best service as possible.
What can you do to improve your company?
One good way to improve your company’s plan is to
make sure you are offering competitive web hosting
plans. Have a look at other web hosting companies and
see what they are offering and what their prices might
be. Use that as a scale to decide what prices you
should go for with your web hosting plans.
Offer perks and special offers to your customers as
well. Come up with a few extra scripts pre-installed
on your accounts, a way to watch uptime on a server,
and more. By doing so, you are telling them what
stands out about your company and what you will get
here and nowhere else. The more you offer your
clients, the better your chances are that they will
sign up with you.
Make sure your support team is well balanced to fix
any problems that might come up. You might get a few
support persons who are better at system
administration and a few that are a little better at
answering sales questions. As well, make sure your
employees get to know your customers as well as you
have. The more personal one-on-one feeling you have,
the better the client feels they are being taken care
of personally. People want to feel special when it
comes to support and not just another number or
A web hosting company is only as good as the data
centers that house the servers they use. You should
do your best in researching any data centers you are
interested in to see what the track record is for them
concerning support and uptime. Also if your customer
base has grown, you might look into getting servers
located in several locations. It is never good to
keep all your eggs in one basket. Collocation across
many data centers will mean you will never experience
all your servers being down at once. This way if you
do have a server problem that is being worked on, not
every customer you support will be down at one time.
This will cut down on stress and questions about the
process while it is going on.
When looking to become a successful web host, you
have to look at improving yourself and then improving
how your company does business. Once you’ve done
everything possible that one could do, it is then up
to the customer base to see how they react to your
