Hi,
I am a reseller with a bunch of clients.
I am thinking of getting a server by Alabanza but want your opinion.
You see, I don't know anything about the server. I don't know how to secure it, set things up, etc.
So.. does Alabanza do these things for me?
Or not?
Let's say someone wants a subdomain, will Alabanza show me how to do it, or do it for me? Or, am I stuck if I don't know?
Thanks!

basically with a resellers account, you don't have root access to these things, but in exchange they do it for you.
There are restrictions however.
If one of your clients want a sub-domain, they will most probably just show you how. You will have to create the sub-domain however.

Alabanza is pretty good about setting everything up. You can control your server through their front end, or you can telnet in and work via command line. In fact, you can control everything, from billing to new setups right from the GUI. Their support, from time to time, is somewhat slow, but they do go out of their way to give you a hand should you need it.

Before you purchase an account from Alabanza, check out a thread on WHT for problems with them. It alleges Alabanza contacted the customers of people who had reseller accounts with them and tried to convince(in some case successfully) these customers to switch over to them.
Buyer Beware, I guess.

I would suggest a search on WHT. Many other companies offer managed servers. Search for good pricing and services. As a side note I help maintain a site based on Alabanza. Ping times are better now but for awhile the site would drop 1-3 out of 4 pings.

I haven't heard anything bad about them. Here is a link everyone might want to check out
http://www.forumhosts.com/hosts5.htm and http://www.forumhosts.com/hosts.htm.
This site does a good job at giving the good, the bad, and the dirty about different sites.Brian Pauley

We used to offer reseller services when first started hosting. We resold via Jumpline and they were a Alabanza customer. We was one of the companies that got called and tried to get us to switch from Jumpline when Jumpline got its own NOC and left them.
At that time, the performance of the sites were getting very slow. The uptime was decent but that was about it.
If speed is not an issue, I would say they are OK. Jumplines support went down the tubes when they left to do their own thing. We decided to do our own as well when we could no longer get support.
