Well the article has some very good points.
In the end it is about "personalizing" the experience for the customer. This can be done by being polite to them. Calling them by their name and also talking to them about what THEY want you to do.
It is good practise to go around your customers and ask what they think could be improved. You may even want to reward them with a month free hosting, or whatever if you think their contribution was good enough.
The main thing is you have to sound as if you are polite, happy and a friend of theirs. A lot of my clients have actually become my friends and we talk about other things other than "How do i do this...". I enjoy making new friends and what better a place than your own customer base
