Recommended payment gateway
What are the recommended payment gateway out there?. Currently I am using 2checkout.com. So far so so good.

paypal is the devil reincarnated. They will screw you sideways and upside down i suggest highly NOT using them.

I tend to think that having a real merchant account is the best way to go. I hear cgCommerce is pretty good, generally anything that's an Authorize.net reseller is a good choice, IMHO.

I actually use the one built into QuickBooks if you have QB. It's supplied via VeriSign (www.verisign.com) but there's no real VS branding on it. Works great for me and their prices are about the most competitive I've seen. I liked it because I had already paid for QB and there were no huge setup fees or software fees to get going. Just a thought for you

I didn't know QB's offered that. I'll have to check it out. I use PayPal but I'm switching to Authorize.net. I think in the end going with a true merchant account is best.

Yeah.. it rocks. I've had several merchant accounts (authorize.net as well). QB by far has just been the best. It's built in to everything really nicely so it works good. Check it out... I'm not sure if it's available before QB 2002 but it's worth an upgrade if you don't have 2002 or later.

I have used 2Checkout and have never had a problem with them. There was a time when they were being DDoS attacked on a regular bases. Seems thats stopped for the most part now. Also just recently signed up with CDGcommerce and have been very pleased with response time and willingness to answer all my questions(believe me I was on the phone, emailing, and using live chat everyday for a week). Would recommend both of them.
