When we started back in 1999 to now it is a different field completely. The amount of tooks out there now are amazing compared to back then. I suspect the next 5 years will change the industry very dramatically.

I agree with Kris...I think that the hosting industry is going to change for sure...I think we would be definitely looking for very low pricing or in fact FREE web hosting...I think the society is already heading that way now with all the small hosting companies

I think the freebie stuff and super low priced will start to fade away as it did in the ISP industry for dialup connections. You have to get paid somewhere and these freebies doing it without even getting ads have to go somewhere. Prices will start raising and we will move more towards a virtual private server industry I think.

I have to agree. The lower cost hosts are sure to fade away. Equipment, techs and bandwidth along with all the other costs will surely eat into them.
Also, customers are more demanding now days then they were say 5 or 6 years ago. People are learning more, at a younger age, and they expect a host to have fast high quality support NOW,, not within 24 to 48 hours. (on a good week)
I think there will always be a 'kids' market, where lower costs are needed, but for business and other sites that need the higher quality hosts, they are learning daily that they will need to pay a bit more to get everything they really need. (quality support and uptime)

We have seen so many come and go due to the fact they could get it cheaper here and there. The one thing that remains stead for us is that we continually run in the black and have no debt. As long as that holds true we will continue to watch the fly-by-nights go by the wayside. We continue to get signups daily even in this flooded market because of the means we go to on support. That is what it comes down to in the end, uptime and support. People will pay a fortune for what we offer at a fraction to be honest.

over 5 years there will be no more small hosting companies. you will find serious hosting companies with security in mind. ofcourse there will be new high technology available.
all small hosts will turn into free hosting business.

How can you even post that with any seriousness? That would be like saying there are no more small ISPs. There will be small and large companies. Some of the small companies of this year will be big companies then.
