How do you avoid security hole. All the time when we update some softwre their might be security hole. For example cpanel has lots of thirdy party scripts. It might have some secuity issue all the time.
Is any general solutions for that.

Keep all OS and software up to date is really your only battle against that. Also, running firewalls and system monitoring software is a must.Kris

Keeping systems upto date is an ongoing war, and its all part of systems administration and being a webhost.
I used to complain about new product releases then finding out about security holes regarding that release. But to be honest its part and parcel of using/relying on computers.
In truth their is no "Hand Guide" to keeping systems upto date, you just have to do your research and get on as best you can.

- Join Date
- Dec 2003
- install a firewall
- remove inactive users and groups
- install a virus scanner for email
- secure tmp partition
- chmod your compilers
- install logcheck
- check logs regularly
- consider an IDS like snort
- consider compiling apache with phpsuexec
