Thread: Automated Email Sign Up ? ? ?
07-11-2003, 04:53 PM #1ITGEEKGuest
YES.... we are aware that spammers take advantage of free/automated email sign-ups ! ! !
However, this is not for us. It is for a church site and will allow the church congregation to sign-up for their own emails with an automated script.
Does anybody know of a reliable (easy install/config) script that will be ideal for this type of situation?
I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions as to where we can aquire this... thanks again!

Well this all depends on what server software you are using. If your running CPANEL, simply look for the script that is called to create the various accounts. Then create a form via the web to call that script and run it. Basically your opening up the cpanel e-mail signup and creation form to the the world. I would at least recommend password protecting the site with some sort of login and password to keep anyone from creating an e-mail address. Doesn't sound like much of a need, but if you all of a sudden have 5,000 signups and each account is 5 megs big, thats a lot of storage space ;-).
