Need reliable host for multiple domains. ASAP.
My current host doesn't do shared hosting quite as well as they provide servers. I used them when I was a web-host.
Many of websites are only sporadically available. Some of my domain emails will not work.
I just like things to work. I was in the hosting business, and I know how much work it takes to run an integritous and reliable hosting company.
I will pay more than for what I use. Good hosting simply costs a lot of money, and I know that. I need reliability.
I would prefer a host who can work with me, can place together custom packages and price them, has multiple servers, has their own machines they can customize, and who I can scale with.
I do not want to be stuck on an over-loaded machine; I'm already in that situation. That will always be unacceptable to me, I know when that is the situation, so there's no point in placing a previous hosting company founder and owner on an over-loaded machine he will know is over-loaded.
I have multiple domains which I need hosting for.
My domains and websites run the gamut. I have critical business domains, and own Anthroponomy.com - a new science of which I am the founder. I am Autistic, and highly and vocally support Autistic rights - and Autistic independence. I am currently working on an Autistic community, for, by, and of Autistics.
My host should understand that I value freedom of speech - but that I also take a great responsibility with that freedom. I have a number of projects waiting for the Autistic community; one of which is Responsible Free Speech - for which I used to own a domain, but expired with a number of others. I am an artist, and a gallery may display whatever it likes - and we all want that; but it is the simlest matter to place up a sign which indicates that the gallery is showing mature content. This does not encroach on artistic freedom of speech; it is simply caring about others and being responsible.
It is likely that I will have to move to a server in the future, but if the hosting I have is reliable and excellent, I will keep my hosting package with my next host, as I like redundancy, and can use a separate account for many things, including server monitoring.
I may opt to spread the domains on different servers with shared hosting instead of running my own server. Running a server is a 24/7 proposition.
I have almost no traffic at this time, and don't require much disk space, as I'm using less than 100MB in total. I expect the amount of usage to increase, but I don't know at what rate or to what degree. New domains will be purchased and go up, as well.
I like cPanel, as I'm familiar with it. I do use Fantastico.
I currently pay $20/month for a pretty big package. I don't use 1/100 of that package. The CPU on my current server is already stressed. I remember starting hosting and being amazed at how few customers a dual Xeon machine with (4) HDDs and 2GB RAM could serve without spiking overloaded.
I will pay fairly for an account on a server that is appropriately filled and has plenty of CPU headroom for spikes - not stuffed full with the CP taking one minute to load or change pages, or taking one minute to access an email account and download a 2k email.
I know cPanel, and will not require any support if you have cPanel.
I will never submit tickets if you have cPanel and everything works.
I am familar with H-Sphere, and used to run that before running cPanel on my machines. I could use H-Sphere, but would have questions.
I am a considerate customer. I am loyal; I have given my current host about 6 months to get everything together, but I still have all these problems. I am doing nothing exraordinary at all; it is all basic, simple hosting - that's it.
Most of my sites are simple HTML which I code myself. HTML is not CPU-intensive.
I wil be using forums, and my personal site uses WordPress currently.
For what I use, how I know to use the least amount of server resources, I pay well.
For resource overhead on a server, I will always pay more, since that is required for profiting on such a server. I will pay more as I grow, according to the resources I'm using (which I will know I'm using).
I don't want to run my own server until or unless I have to. So, as I reach a certain resource consumption level, I will pay $100/month to be on a clean server with only a few other customers.
Since I have a gamut of national and international sites, my resource consumption will be a little more spread out than a typical larger client.
A newer host or a smaller host who can work with me is very good, too. A host that is willing to invest in a new server is excellent. There are ways to create a middling service between shared hosting and VPS with cPanel.
I don't know the current hosting industry; if there's VPS with cPanel capability at this time, I would be interested in that.
If you have different solutions, I'm up to hearing them.
I understand that everything I've specified may no be available.
But I do require stability, reliability, full functionality, and server headroom.
