That is true, but I would strongly recommend to anyone that after your hosting company has picked up, to buy another server and begin to do some shared hosting, and then another server (figuring about 30 accounts per server). And so on and so forth... then after about a year, start doing dedicated hosting.

if you have morethan 30 customers go for dedciated Servers. YOu can make a lot of money if you have a dedicated servers. but if you work as a reseller you won;t get soo much pain in your head.

Im about to start in the hosting bizz, this has given me a slight head start, thanks."Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."

The only problem I can see from dedicated servers is that you have to admin the server.
You can pay someone to do so, but believe me, it will be very expensive.
Resellers have been the way to go but like essentials stated, make sure they have a quality provider or you will have crap as well.

this is all depending on a few factors:
3) marketing gimmicks
One who wants to own an object must know how to operate it, else he will not be able to make full use of it. What I am trying to say here is that if one wants to get a dedi server, its best he knows some shell commands etc.
It's always best to start off as reseller den move your clients to your dedicated server. It's a safer move.
This depends on how well you can promote your business to the public
