Is there such a thing as a "good" host? That stays good?
it seems like every host that was a good host, at one point, eventually went bad.
People I talk to tell me that i should probably expect to go through 2-3 bad hosts before finding one that actually works properly. Is this true?
Are there any webhosts out there that have good service and most importantly for me, reliability? webhosts that have been good for years, not months, and so will probably remain to be good?

ehostspace is correct, it depends who your first few hosts are, if you dive in looking for the cheapest webhost you can find and are not really interested in the actual service its possible they the compnay will get worse or you could even have a bad experience from the start.
you ask if webhosting compnaies usually go downhill over time, to answer that, i think it most definetely not true.
we started out around 6 months ago and have built up a very good reputation, as of yet we have not one dissapointed customer and we are doing everything we can to keep our reputation up. We have just upgraded all of our servers with some new software for all clients. Also we will soon be growing even bigger internally, whilst we look for new support staff to provide better support and a better general service.
can i add our name to the list aswellProWebUK.com
Best regards
Chris

Overall, it all depends on what you are specifically looking for. There may be hosting companies who specifically deals with what you are looking for and they may be the host for you.
It all narrow's down to, how much homework the end user has done. =)

Word of mouth is/has been the best way to rate a company.

Most hosting dont go 'bad' its usaly that your needs grow. Try to go with a host that has been arround for 1+ years and that gives you more than you think you will need, recources to grow always comes in handy.
