I'd like to know whether I should use 'lock()' function when I use construction dbopen(%hash, DataBase,0666) under multi-tasking enviroment ?? Or Perl's engine does it by itself ??

dbopen() is a UNIX command. Do you mean the Perl function dbmopen() ? If so, why not use tie() instead?
As for locking... AFAIK, the database structure should handle any types of locking that would be necessary. If you were to lock() the whole THING, I think you'd probably lock the whole database so no one else could access it at all (including reads).
