Hi friend:
It's my first time to start an online business, and my first time in life to find a web host for my business. My business has been projected as first three years-medium size, then going to large size. I expect it will be a big, portal website. I expect it can be my life-time business.
I spent time to search some web hosts, and now I feel these two are attractive: http://www.infinology.com , http://www.apollohosting.com . They seem good, with differences in between.
But I feel it very confused that some web hosting reviewing sites rank infinology.com as Top 1 Host in general respects, please see: http://www.web-hosting-reviews.org/?trackcode=bizcom , while some other sites rank apollohosting.com as Top 1, please see:
http://www.bestwebhostingreviews.com/apoll...lohosting.shtml . There are other seemingly contradictory comparisons and rankings. So, where is the truth?
You guys are more experienced than I. Please help me pick who is generally better: infinology.com or apollohosting.com?
I'm looking forward to your single pick. Or would you please simply mention the name of any better web host?
Your reply will be highly appreciated!
David

Don't immediately trus the ratings sites. The reason they are supposedly #1 is often because they have paid for that placement.
The best way to assess their services is to send them a few emails, check the response times and quality of answers. Also do a search for their company name on a few web hosting forums like this one.

Agreed, also I have been hearing bad things about infinology.com lately.

The problem with those host ranking sites nowadays is that they get money to rank companies. The more you pay, the higher you are ranked.

Web directory, web rating, load of crap! How do these review company survive? Advertising! Where does the money come from? What are the banners you normally see in their websites? That explains all. I don't see any unbiasness exist!
We have clients trying to rate us in ratemyhosting.com [I supposed, can't remember] but we realised that we need to pay for it in order to get listed. So, what is the point. Your customers will tell how good you are and where you stand?
I just don't see the reason why I should compete with inequality.

Doug

addvalue : I can understand your frustration. That's why a few guys and myself set up a new site called AssuredHost. It's main purpose is to create unbiased reviews on fellow web hosts. Also, in other to be rated as highly recommended, you do not need to pay us a single ct, but throw your money into maintaining good tech service + good server uptime/network.
We are in the process of setting up, looking to beat those money making web sites.
