Being a reseller sounds quite interesting, can someone explain to me how it works, in detail?

Everyone has a different definition for what a reseller is/does. Some buy an account and resell their space, other companies let you resell their accounts (you get them for a discounted prices and sell them for a higher price) and you keep the difference. It all varies from host to host on what you can and can't do.

I give you an illustration of the type of reseller my company and some other companies adopt.
X buys 1000megs of web space from me at $y per month. He sells the 1000megs of webspace at any pricing he wants. He can earn quite an amount from this by setting his own pricing
The other type would be -
X buys his 2nd account from me. I sell to him at 20% discount. He charges at his own pricing. Each time he wants an account, he comes to me.

What you have to consider when reselling is support. Reselling hosting is the same as hosting on your own box except you do not get concerned with the network/server.
You have to decide -
1. Type of reselling - Just as an addon service to your biz (ie web design) or you want it to be a business. Will you be private label? Who does the support, you or the host?
2. What type of support you will offer based on the above?
3. Are you are the first contact for problems and when can you be available?
4. What your prices will be? Business model?
5. Do you need a merchant account? etc etc
6. The list goes on.
The idea of reselling is nice but people need support and you need to make money. Decide which is the best mix.

You want to make sure when reselling that you have control over the accounts (as long as you are some what familiar). Personally if I was a reseller I would not want to have to turn to the host every time that you want to sign up an account. That is more like an affiliate.
As a reseller you setup the accounts (i.e. alot the amount of disk space, admin id & pw and what the account comes with, ect.) As a reseller you by a larger amount of space & bandwidth and then resell it. And ideally you would want a "private label" so that your clients cannot see the host.
HostAsset has brought up some very good points to consider.
If you have any other questions that you might want a more detailed answer to my staff is always more than willing to help out in any way possible, just email us or PM me.

It's really simple. Reselling is buying a big amount of space and bandwidth of a Dedicated Server and selling to people that want hosting for personal/small business sites. The other things of support, speed and that is something any host should have.
