Thread: anyone left for Buying?
05-01-2003, 04:26 PM #1AlvinusGuest
There seem to be a million people setting themselves up to sell hosting but who is buying?
It seems to me that all the kids out there are going to put their personal sites on a free host.
Larger companies would have a professional site and probably their own server.
Web designers likely have their own server or reseller account for their client's sites.
Small businesses trying to make a site with Front Page are likely to go for the overpriced hosting offered by their ISP, because they don't know any better.
Who is left?

There are always people who are always moving around because they are unhappy of their current host, never had a host before, need a new web page, and etc.

There are always available customers.
People who just got on to the Internet world will be interesrested to set up their own homepage and so on. Thus, there will always be people who will buy hosting from you.

There are currently 24k new names being registered a day. If only 50% need hosting that is still a petty big market. The trick is how to succesfully get those customers to your company.

If you can maintain:
1. Good customer service
2. Good server uptime
3. Good marketing strategies
Then getting a client is certainly not a problem for you.

Yea there are tons of people that need hosting, and a lot of my friends are domain addicts who buy a lot of domains for weird reasons. And believe it or not, there are a lot of teenagers/kids out there with personal sites that get domains who buy way more bandwidth/space than they need.. I think the youngest domain owner I've seen so far was a 9 year old.

Currently, in this webhosting line, products and services means the most. no longer pricing.
Good uptime + good & prompt support = good business..
remove good from the equation and you should know what to expect...

yea true..they wouldnt be rich enough to afford a server unless they sort of play around with their parents funds. Even if they can afford for the first month, maintenance is another thing..lol..
