Thread: Support Forum?

We use a forum as our main support.
It actually works out pretty well.
Just looking for some feedback on how well it would work.

it's a unlikelihood that your staff would screw up and in the case where you staff really did that, an editing of post would solve all problems. But come again, its really unlikely a staff would screw up.
Basically, i think the best yet IMO rather silly kind of support is phone support. I like this because it is really fast, but do not like because, it wastes too much resources, especially $$$. You will have to employ a "phone operator" and answer all questions and also be reminded that he/she has to be fast in thinking and solving problems.
The next best support is via email

basically we have it set up so if they click support on our link they would be redirected to our forum.
and if they need to reach us by e-mail they can either look around in the forum or visit our contact area.
There it lists all our contact information.
We thought about phone support but it will cost mucho $$$.
So at this point we will hold off on the phone support.
Plus, some companies that offer phone support dont even pick up their phone so its just a waste.

The worst nightmare you can ever face if you have phone support is that people call you in the middle of the night.
A support forum is still my choice, followed by email.

vBulletin is rather expensive while Invision is free. phpBB seems to have problems. I always get the invalid_session error.
