any ideas how many times you can do whois before you get your IP blacklisted by whois.networksolutions.com server?

Actually, it is doubtfull they would ever make it a "bann". Normally, however, alot of the main servers over whois databases (like NetWork Solutions (NetSol) for .com/.net./.org) will "temporarily" block you for a few minutes or even a few hours, after 15 or twenty hits. I don't recall how many NetSol does it after. Under rules they must follow becuase of ICANN it is hard to imagine them being able to justify to ICANN or INTERNIC doing it permanetly. However, it is done temporarily to keep bots and other automated look-ups from bogging down their whois servers.

I am not sure about that as i have never used the source you are specifying. But if they are blacklisting your IP, Why should you use them. You can use any other better source. for example, I use to get domain whois info usually from http://www.whoisxy.com/ . This site provides me accurate information for unlimited attempts.
