Do I need dedicated Ips for nameservers?

You don't really need dedicated IP for nameservers. You can use shared IPs.

Just a little more information about NameServers and IPs.

Personalized Nameservers, usually come with reseller packages, do not need any extra IPs. In fact, usually that are just makes of the servers generic nameservers. For example:

ns1.yourserver.com --> ns1.yourdomain.com
ns2.yourserver.com --> ns2.yourdomain.com

So, you really don't need the dedicated IPs, unless you are trying to take your anonymity one step further.

Dedicated IPs are generally only needed for the following reasons:
- SSL Certs(Private) generally require a dedicated IP
- Anonymous FTP generally requires a dedicated (only in certain situations you dont have to have it, but this is rare)
- Sometimes, you can avoid being put on blacklist from the shared server IP by using a dedicated IP, however, usually the blacklists are put in blocks.
- Gain some anonymity

And I think that is about all they provide you with.

Thanks,
Darin

If server IP is black listed then all of the domains will have problem eventhough if they have dedicated IP. All mails go through main IP. If I am wrong please correct me.

IP's get blacklisted for a number of reasons, min reasons are there using it to spam other people.

I dont think there is much you cna do about this, you may need to speak to your data centre about it. depending the reasons to why it got blacklisted is depending if it can be unden.

its pretty hard to get completely unblacklisted from every list... Its better to pay the datacenter to give you all new ips.

You can use shared ips. I've seen people register nameservers with their isp name server ips:

example:
ns1.isp.com -> 1.1.1.1

then someone would register:
ns1.reseller.com -> 1.1.1.1

Back in networksolutions only days it was not possible but now most registrars allow it. There's no need for dedicated ips if it saves you money but as always dedicated ips with custom reverse lookup make you look more profesional.

Yeah you don't necessarily need one and as said above you can use a shared IP address
