Of course it needs to be configured! How? well, it depends... is the router directly connected to internet (that is, is there any other router or cable modem or anything provided by your ISP?

If the router is not connected directly to internet, it will work as a bridge, and you will need to configure both the local network part and the internet part... the linksys router will be responsible for the local network and a bridge for interent.

Of course, if you want to use the wireless, you need to activate it

A wireless router is a device that makes a router but also includes the functions of a wireless access point and network switch. They are commonly used to provide Internet access or computer network without needing a wired connection.

    Hi.....
Tech support, thank you for calling.

Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on?

    Hmm, I'm stumped then.
