The weakest Linux?
What's the weakest Linux, when talking about network security, out there? Is there even such a thing? Or does it all depend on the skills of the people trying to get to your data?

All the operating system has weakest point. You need to keep your kernel with latest updates and need to have good firewall rules. There are lots of firewall software for linux. I would recommend iptables.

I agree but i think it is also important to install an intrusion detection system and use a spam and anti-virus filter to increase the security.

But wouldn't the firewall do all that? Intrusion detection, virus killing, that sort of stuff? Wouldn't iptables be enough for that? I know that all systems are hackable...

You can control by firewall, but not all and depends on your firewall rules. If you are running third party tools, then you need to come up with different firewall rules.

I do agree that all OS have its flaw just like Linux there is also some problems with it apps like Gimp and open office. I actually recommend it actually to a friend of mine but it seems too unfriendly its really hard to figure out if your a newbie. And with open office I think it really needs a interface overhaul.

unbuntu is th easiest out of them but they al have ups and downs, Depends on where the developers wanted to take it.
Unbuntu is to start you on linux, then you can move on to other more advanced like Fedora, OpenSuse and all the others.█ HostWisdom.com - Premium Shared and Resellers Web Hosting

Admin is key to security
Any operating system can be hacked. Since hackers are ever changing their methods, the administrator should be watchful. When you load your o/s, don't enable features you don't need - like GUI. Create a secure password and change it every month. Get familiar with "ipchains", the Linux firewall. Google it and see what it can do for you.

Yes, all of the systems are hackable by expert hackers, but it is very hard to prevent, but we need to prevent as much as we can.
