    LinuxMint?

Anyone heard about LinuxMint? I heard that it's the best alternative for Ubuntu there is... Did you guys try it? What can you tell me about it? Is it easier to install and use than Ubuntu? Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for the link! I've checked out the site, but I must say that I'm still not convinced to give Linux Mint a spin before Ubuntu. I will install Ubuntu first, and afterwards, when I get more experience, I'll check out Mint aswell.

I like what I read about Linix Mint, however, I still hesitate to switch from windows where everything I try seems to work the first time. I had my problems with XP and Vista but in time I fixed them and moved on.

I too installed Linux Mint 2.0 this past weekend on one of my home PC's. I was already running Ubunutu 6.10 on my laptop and had to install various multimedia apps and codecs to be able to listen to my various music sources and watch DVD's.

I was looking for Linux Mint to make this easier for me, and it did. So far, I'm pretty impressed with it and will probably upgrade my wife's PC from XP Pro to Linux Mint this next week.

    I would rate it a 8 out of 10.
    good job!

I've heard that this is a really simple distro of Linux to use. Haven't downloaded it yet, but I'll probably try the disc first before doing a live install just so I can play around with it. The one that that has always bugged me about Linux is the difficulty in finding and installing drivers. Hopefully, it'll be easier with this flavor.

I think linuxmint is THE BEST linux desktop distro out there. Lots of things that require tweaking just work. It looks good and runs well.

I've used kubuntu / ubuntu but still like mint better.

None should be better than the other since they are about the same, except from the menu.
