Thumbs down nopaypal

Paypal is horrible.... trash......... go to the website nopaypal.kom

They are the worst company ever.

I will admit that you probably NEED to offer paypal to get max potential for your business..... however I personally recommend you just accept credit cards from another way such as the check site or whatever....

I had 2 paypal accounts one my name, my wife had the other. Both accounts ended up getting screwed......

1) I sold a computer for about $1000 ...... paypal waits until i send it to the customer 2 weeks later tells me they paid with stolen funds and locked all of my money! I proved i sent the computer and they still did not give my money back because it was stolen or whatever.....

2) My wife a few months later had her account closed with about 300 dollars in it because they somehow related hers to me...... wtf is that?

We are 2 different people yet they froze her money from my mistake and would not fix the problem..........

2checkout can get pretty pricey and more customers will want to use paypal over to checkout. belows a breakdown of there fees, i made this example for a hosting company who has 500 clients paying $6 ea per month.

2 Checkout:
($6 x 5.5%) + .45 = $0.78
$0.78 x 500 = $390 in fees per month

PayPal:
($6 x 2.9%) + .30 = $0.47
$0.78 x 500 = $235 in fees per month

Customer support quality is about the same for each, none

paypal

I prefer paypal over 2checkout. I feel paypal is more flexable.

I like the post I found on one of the forums

I would say paypal is fine if you're just starting your business. It's free to use and most customers will have a paypal account. 2Checkout comes across more professional but it does have a much higher transaction fee.

There have been many horror stories with paypal, check out www.paypalsucks.com for more information. I haven't really had any real problems with paypal however and quite happily use them for my business needs.

You will find if something is popular people will hate it. Microsoft, webhostingtalk, Mcdonalds People hate monopolys and this is a classic example!

It depend on which country you live. If your country support paypal, you can go for it as you can receive money through paypal or through credit card.

I have been taking paypal

I have had a paypal button on my site for a long time, but have not had anyone pay using this method. Most of the people are looking for a better deal or something else. I am surprised that at even $12/year hosting plans I have not had any takers, AND I am taking paypal!

^ This doesn't mean it was the fault of PayPal

If your service is good takers will be there, concentrate on the service quality, only cheap prices can get you quick clients, but if you want to stay long and want long term clients, the quality of the service matters.

Personally I believe PayPal is a big player and growing more as well, so no-one will stop accepting PP. The only bad side is it's scope, many potential business countries are not allowed, specially some Asian countries.

We have a good experience with PP and will use it.

Thanks,
Vijay
