    We use Smartertrack helpdesk which comes with live chats as well as a helpdesk system. The options offered are quite good with follow-up and other useful features. However, not sure if it is cheap as such.

    PHPLive is your best option. I use it for my customers websites all the time. It's free and it's really easy to set up.

    Do you have cpanel? There is a download/install link there for PHPLive.
