1:- The topic of the site exact same as u upload material. ie if u r site topic/title is songs and there u upload pic this is not the right way.

To check website ranking install search status or seoquake plugin in mozilla.
First clear me what rank that your website want to get. Depends on the rank that you want to get, the toughness will increase and consume some time. Atleast you have to wait 3 - 4 months to get good result for your work in both onpage optimization and off page optimization.
