You can use Yahoo Explorer to check backlinks to your site. There are so many other tools. I recommend Yahoo Explorer.

A combination of two methods could generate very great results, the Yahoo Site Explorer plus Google Webmaster Tools. Yahoo is quick in picking the new links and rapidly adding them to its database but unfortunately it will spot when you reach the 1000th link status displayed. Google is great but it may not be that fast sometimes.

Quality back links is one of the most important factors in Search Engine Optimization.
It is not enough just to have a lot of backlinks, it is the quality of backlinks along with the Quantity that help you rank better in Search Engines.A backlink could be considered as a Quality Backlink if
    1. It links to your website with the keyword (key phrase) that you are trying to optimize for.
    2. The Theme of the back linking website is the same as your website.
