Why people usually prefer .com domains?

The .com is just an adopted standard. It is what everyone uses. When I register all of my domains, I always go for the .com first because when everyone wants to go to a site, they naturally go to a .com.

.com is the standard high level domain. it can be used for all sort of sites. thats why most of the people prefer .com for their sites. i too purchased .com domains only for my site from here. Xnynz.com

As we know well, it has become increasingly difficult for us to find the domain name of our choice with .COM.
This is one reason why so many bloggers now prefer .NET apart from .COM. If a blogger wants the .COM domain name, he usually has to settle for a less than perfect domain name.

I suppose that .com is the most popular and Most every one who came newly in hosting business or just to host personal website mostly likes .com domain due to it's popularity and good will.

It happened so that it is the oldest and easily the most popular. It is also considered a global domain name so would suit global businesses
