You are right, but not only generic domain names are popular now some ccTLD like .ME are popular like some premium extensions

I don't really understand that domain name, co.nl, the Netherlands has already its own domain name .nl, either they scrap it or they will add to confussion.

If I had a .nl domain I may have to buy co.nl to avoid phishing and anyone going to the wrong site, I am not too happy with that new domain. In addition the only EU country I know of using .co is the uk, all others use their country own domain LTD, .de , .it , .es , .pt , etc...
