I have heard of Google demoting and even de-listing sites which participate in link exchange boards, but I have not heard of specific issues with selling links and advertising. Has anyone actually fallen victim to this? It sounds okay to me. If someone's willing to pay to have you link to their site then they probably REALLY want a link from your site. Might mean the content is related. I would think Google would appreciate that, of all people. After all, they run the biggest paid-for link site in the world.
